As much as I’d like to keep the Amazon around, so what if it was no more ? Actually I think we can keep it. But the fossil record is packed with lifeforms that have been and are now no more. Geology is packed with jungles that covered an area which is now desert. That was the entire Sahara by the way. The jungles there are no more, yet the planet still seems to be here. I’ve had this “lungs of planet” thing since the Rio De Janeiro Earth summit in 1992. This idea must die. It’s stupid and very, very dumb. Why would we want stupidity and dumbness in an ecology and climate debate ? I thought we were trying to “save the planet” ?
