This is the holy grail of psychology. Behind all this is something extraordinary. It was Velikovsky, himself a colleague of Freud and Jung who identified a traumatising event in our history. His research was taken up by the Electric Universe people (Wal Thornhill, et al). I don’t think we’re going to find out what happened until enough people really seriously start looking at this. But it could be the case that Earth was once around another star, possibly a Brown Dwarf, obscuring what we now see on the sky as the constellations, and then we were “captured” by another passing star in a sort of cosmic cataclysm. This may have happened only around 10,000 years ago. I just give this as an example, but something MAJOR originally created all this attachment trauma. Why were Mothers suddenly unable to bond with their own babies ? This is not a trivial thing.
